I can’t remember who told me, but I got a very valuable piece of advice a long time ago. Someone told me that, in order to ‘be’ something, you had to call yourself that. It was in relation to photography. I wasn’t comfortable calling myself a photography, at the time. That little piece of advice stuck in my head.
I’ve been writing far longer than I’ve been taking photos. Because of the odd comma in the wrong spot, I hesitate to call myself a ‘writer’. But today I was wondering what’s so damn important about commas? Isn’t it the creative part or the story that’s the good thing?
