Fire & Rescue || Nanaimo

I’ve always had a great deal of admiration for people who choose a career in any kind of rescue or law enforcement. My interest could have come from the fact that my Mom was a police officer in England. I grew up in the kind of family where people don’t shy away from helping others. Some of my first memories of my mother are of her ‘helping’ – me, my brother or other people. As I grew up, I saw my Mom help people in so many different ways. Sometimes, she would take control at an accident scene. Sometimes, she would just talk to someone who looked like they might need it. Last night, during the fire, she got a blanket from her vehicle for one of my neighbours who was looking particularly cold.

I look up to my mom. Always will.
